Changes to Post CH Ltd’s range of services
As of 1 January 2027
Amendments to products and prices
Every day, Swiss Post connects millions of people and companies in Switzerland. It does this to a high standard and without taxpayers’ money. However, digitization is causing a structural decline in letter volumes: they have almost halved in 20 years, and they are continuing to decrease by over 5 percent annually. In 2025 alone, revenue fell by 85 million francs as a result of this development. With fewer letters per household, the cost per letter increases. Despite consistent efficiency and cost-cutting measures, Swiss Post is unable to compensate fully for this development.
To ensure a financially viable universal service, Swiss Post has to implement price adjustments. For this reason, we have agreed an amicable settlement with the price regulator on pricing measures with effect from 1 January 2027. For example, we are adjusting the list prices for domestic letters and international document consignments, as well as for addressed promotional mailings. For domestic letters, the weight limit now applies to the standard format of 1-50 g instead of 1-100 g and prices are exempt from VAT. More information can be found in the factsheet “Cancellation of voluntary VAT opt-in for domestic letters up to 50 g”.
A new product awaits you from 2027. With the new “volume letter”, you benefit from a convenient solution for consignments up to 500 g and 5 cm thick – at an attractive price of CHF 4.20, including track and trace. It replaces the previous format surcharge. More information can be found in the “Volume letter” factsheet.
Amendments to services as of 1 January 2027
These documents also indicate the changes as of 1 January 2029, on which Swiss Post and the price regulator have agreed.
