Our path to net zero
We believe that the future is net zero. As an enterprise affiliated with the Confederation, we want to set an example – including in the areas of climate and energy. Our goal: by consistently reducing our CO₂ emissions, we aim to achieve net zero in our in-house operations and in our core business value chain by 2040. Together with partners, we will reduce additional emissions across our value chain within the scope of our economic capabilities with a view to achieving net zero by 2050 at the latest. We have set ambitious interim targets for 2030.
What we have already achieved (as of 2025)
57% of our fleet is electric
We are gradually converting our entire fleet to electric mobility. Of more than 15,700 vehicles in total, over 9,000 are electric.
66% of buildings fitted with renewable heating systems
We are equipping our buildings in Switzerland with heating systems such as heat pumps, wood pellet heating or district heating.
13% of road freight transport uses alternative drivetrains
In 2025, our partners transporting consignments by road covered 9 million kilometres using alternative drive systems, out of a total of 70 million kilometres travelled.
What climate and energy mean to us
We are reducing CO₂ emissions and using energy efficiently – guided by clear targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). In 2026, we refined our climate target. The revalidation of our climate target by SBTi is pending.

Our top priority is reducing CO₂ emissions in our core business and across the entire value chain. This is how we contribute to climate protection.
Switch to renewable energy
We are using energy more efficiently and expanding our use of renewable energy – in particular in logistics, passenger transport and our buildings.
Responsibility for CO₂ emissions that have not yet been reduced
We support high-quality climate protection projects and focus on solutions aimed at removing and storing CO₂ from the atmosphere.

How we are implementing our climate target
We are working on various strategies: we are reducing CO₂ emissions in logistics and passenger transport, further developing our buildings and energy supply, and taking responsibility for emissions that have not yet been reduced.
Reducing CO₂ in logistics
We are gradually converting our fleet of vehicles for the transport of letters, parcels and goods to electric vehicles and vehicles with alternative drive systems.
Expanding e-mobility in passenger transport
We are gradually converting our Postbuses to electric drive systems.
Building and maintaining energy-efficient buildings
We are heating more and more of our buildings with heat pumps, wood pellet heating or district heating. For new buildings, we apply Minergie or DGNB standards.
Using renewable energy
We rely on 100 percent electricity from renewable energy sources in Switzerland and generate some of our electricity ourselves. For our electric fleet, we are building a nationwide charging network, which also benefits other companies.
Responsibility for emissions that have not yet been reduced
We take responsibility for emissions that have not yet been reduced: we are building a portfolio of solutions aimed at removing and storing CO₂ from the atmosphere. We also support high-quality climate protection projects.
